Thames Bowls club at Fondu Sports Club has had its bowling green levelled and new bank and ditch units fitted

Sportsmark

Thames Bowls Club in Thurrock was suffering from not only very poor illegal ditches and banks, but also had a serious slope across the green.

This is bread and butter to Sportsmark, who they called in to deal with these issues.

Firstly, we had to level the green, which required raising the height to about 40% of the green. Then we installed Sportsmark ‘County’ concrete ditch units to the new levels. This also required re-laying several paths.

We then covered the face of the banks with our hard wearing impact absorbing “Ditch Face Curl “artificial grass, wrapping the artificial over the top of the banks, Finally we installed Hedgehog III liners for the bottom of the ditch and our bowling green access steps to make access safe and easy.

Sportsmark installs new County Concrete ditch and bank units, puts in an area of artificial grass, and new tarmac paths at Springhouse Bowls Club in Thurrock

Sportsmark

As part of an ongoing project to refurbish all the bowling greens in Thurrock to bring their ditches/banks up to legal standards, Springhouse Bowling Club is the latest and included two greens!.

We installed our County Concrete ditch channel units, which ensure the bank height is legal, and also feature the unique forward angled return face.

The upright face of the bank was covered with our high quality impact absorbing “Ditch Face Curl” artificial grass, which wraps over the top to create a neat finish. A 0.5m wide strip of surface around the green edge was re-levelled and turfed with top quality bowling green turf.

The area behind the banks was upgraded, using a more natural looking artificial grass, surround and concrete path edgings and tarmac paths were laid to completie a very tidy job.
